And now stock market trading in India

By Deepa on Sep 3, 2010 | In Technology and IT | Send feedback »

Stock market might just have another breather !

In a bid towads improving process on stock markets and enabling mobile usability , where the stock market is concerned the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) today permitted mobile trading and smart order routing (SOR) between stock exchanges in India . This move definitely improve the volumes on stock markets and bring in considerable change across the board for this industry. Considering that there are more than 450 million mobile connections but just 10 million DEMAT accounts. This gets to be a huge turnaround for the scrips markets

Stock market prices and market fluctuations can literally change in minutes. The facility to trade stocks from a mobile enables you to keep up with any changes in the stock market, make decisions as to whether to buy or sell based on those changes, and complete the transaction in a timely manner. Now this is possible in India.

Three top most hated tech jobs

By Deepa on Sep 2, 2010 | In Technology and IT, Technology and IT | Send feedback »

Here's a glimpse on the three top most hated tech jobs !

    1. Internet Content Moderation can be a nightmare , this might be particularly interesting to those who write everyday on the internet.

Think of the most disgusting things you've stumbled across online. Ironically demand for the work is growing, This gets more tedious if your job is routine filtering across the world wide web .

    2. Electronics Assembly : This is another dreaded tech job and encompasses a lot of pressure. Loosing a prototype or frenzy over assembling devices such as iPhones, iPads, and other electronics from Apple, Dell, and HP, has been accused of fostering "sweatshop" conditions at recurringly since they seem to be working under extreme conditions. This holds especially true for contracyed companies although raising wages and psychological counselling is a regular routine.

Psychological pressure isn't the only rough condition reported in electronics factories, though since exposure to radiations and cance . Labor and human-rights organizations also charge that workers testing microchips and assembling LCDs for Samsung were exposed to radiation that caused cancer conditions for people at such places

    3. Fixing Undersea Internet Cables : This is probably the toughest job since omeone has to lay and fix those cables when an undersea earthquake or errant anchor cuts off the data flow.

Cables that span the oceans keep people connected online across continents. Contrary to popular belief, it's hard connections such as these--not satellites in space--that provide more than 99 percent of the world's Internet connectivity.

Would Dell outshine HP eventually ?

By Deepa on Aug 19, 2010 | In Technology and IT, Technology and IT, Technology and IT | Send feedback »

While Asia has been largely contributing to PC growth and eventually the success stories of PC vendors, the growth might just seem to slow down where it comes to consumer sector. There just might be a slight reshuffle wherein Dell seems to outwit HP on account of its focus on the enterprise segment . This is reflected in the quarter earnings and Dell's figures might just look better than that of HP.

Wherein HP gets a large chunk of its revenue from the consumer sector, Dell accounts for major business revenue from the corporate sector.

We just expect that a gradual corporate PC upgrade cycle and Dell’s execution and share gains in the x86 server market might just settle down well. HP's earnings might just have showed the decline on account of its CEO Mark Hurd's exit. However Dell shows enough potential as per industry insiders to become what they call the top enterprise PC Dog

We expect Dell’s results to outperform HP in both PC and servers.

    Is Facebook worth it?

By Deepa on Jul 23, 2010 | In Technology and IT, Technology and IT, Technology and IT, Technology and IT | Send feedback »

Facebook it seems has managed to draw more than 500 million users and has become a power to reckon on the internet.. Whilst its such a wonderful platform to reconnect with friends and old pals, however; privacy concerns, frequent changes to the website, and commercialization and advertising adversely affect the consumer experience. So some us have been appreciating it a lot for its "party on the Virtual mode". At the same time, there seems to be some major glitches on privacy policies which is turning out to be the linchpin towards people beginning to opt out of the same.

many people are not appreciating the fact that they are no longer safe on Facebook in terms of privacy violation and the number of fake entries that are dominating the scenario.

Its probably the best milestone in the social media landscape so far however many times important data seems to have been compromised in form of cookies or phishing scams to steal important information.

There are so many fake identities at times and you constantly live under the sense of an illusion. Not to miss the percentage of time spent on an average which gets eaten up constantly .

Mobile VAS to ring in 80% of the telcos revenues

By Deepa on Jul 23, 2010 | In Technology and IT, Technology and IT, Technology and IT, Technology and IT, Technology and IT | Send feedback »

The online industry has a new buzz word in its portfolio and that is MVAS.

India being an emerging destination, we have an estimated CAGR of more than 50 percent in India's MVAS industry and a rough approximate to India's mobile VAS industry surging to about US$348.8 million market.

With the launch of 3G and mobile broadband services later this year, the mobile value added services (VAS) industry is expected to ring in a turnover of Rs 1,00,000 crore by 2020.

The backbones of the same would be an emerging ecosystem and rich consumer demand leading to rapid development and adoption of MVAS content within the country.

Whats even more noticeable is a rapid decline in tariffs and the commoditization of mobile phone voice service have made an easy access put to more than 100 million residents. Naturally the players have been left looking into new value streams.
The stage is set for mobile phone companies to get into new dimensions and delivery of music and entertainment-related mobile, location-based services, and mobile Internet content to increasingly tech-savvy subscribers.
We attribute the entire scenario to a booming economy, increase in consumer base and a large spread base of customers having a very high disposable income.

Though VAS was providing only 10 per cent of the revenues for telcos, within this decade the situation would be reversed with value added services ringing 80 per cent of the revenues and voice revenue shrinking to 20 per cent.
