Microsoft to support command for activation-free grace period

Microsoft Corp, the software giant has announced that its newly launched Office 2010 can be used for upto 180 days without providing a product activation key.

In general, the Redmond giant offers a 30-day time limit for users to activate their software; however, the corporate administrators can reset the Office 2010 countdown up to five times with a short command.

Recently, the company has launched the Office 2010 productivity suite for businesses; however, the suite was already available via its TechNet support site, which also provides this short command. Enterprises with volume license agreements can get the suite now.

The company said that after the expiration of 25 days, the message for alerting the consumer would arrive. Further, the title bar of the suite will also change to red. Meanwhile, the company said that by running a file named "ospprearm.exe," users can reset the time-until-activation to 30 days.

It is reported that the technique called as “rearm”, which can be used to reactivate the suite upto five times.

Intel to clear Arrandale chip demand by quarter end

Intel Corp, the world’s largest chip maker has announced that the shortage of its latest Arrandale microprocessors would be corrected by the end of this quarter.

It is reported that the microprocessor, including some Core i3 and Core i5 chips, demand surpassed the supply in April. Meanwhile, the chipzilla has been working to fulfil the demand.

Various analysts said that the shortfall had reported at wrong time because it will delay the launch of various new models by PC vendors.

Sources said that the chip maker is increasing production of new 32-nanometer chip technology to help battle the shortage.

Intel had designed its Arrandale processors so that PC manufacturers can create slimmer laptops. It consists of two-chip package, which includes an Arrandale processing core (32-nm) and a graphics processor (45nm).

According to the research firm IDC, global PC shipments increased 24.2 per cent in the first three months of this year.

Indian outsourcing industry to grow 25% in 2010

In its latest survey, it is reported that the Indian Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) market grew only by 7.3 per cent in 2009 due to weal global cues and demand, which led to drop in prices and volume. But, in 2010, the sector will surge by 25 per cent, the firm added.

The research firm has added that the domestic India BPO services market will develop into a $1.2 billion market by 2011 and $1.8 billion by 2013. In addition, the industry will grow 19 per cent through 2013.

It is reported that the sector is rapidly transforming into one of the high-growth services segment and earning precious foreign exchange to the nation.

India has ample resources for every industry like, work-force, land, water, power, roads, technical workforce and raw materials. Hence, India is the hot destination for various outsourcers.

After the onset of global recession, various Indian BPO vendors had focused on international offshore services market to shift their investments. Further, they also were aiming at various government contracts to increase their revenue.

Would call quality suffer due to high Smartphone usage?

In a recent study, it is reported that Smartphone users will have six times more the network issues due to heavy usage of the devices.

Recently, the smartphone market has surged enormously with all major vendors are launching their smart devices to offer PC like experience in mobile devices. These devices come with strong processor and are able to multi-task.

However, it is said in the report that due to increase in the usage of smartphones, the call quality and the performance has dropped in recent years. The study had taken 7 peripherals to access the performance of the wireless call quality and studied six regions of the America.

The study claims that the smartphone users face drop in calls, nearly three times more than normal mobile phone customers.

It is calculated that the mobile vendors are continuously increasing their network infrastructure, expand coverage areas and improve data speeds, but with the increase in the Smartphone usage, the network capacity would also get tested.

In addition, the rate is six times higher among users who want to change its carriers next year due to such problems.

Google updates its search platform for smartphones

In a latest development, Google has updated its search feature for mobile with new button looks, new toolbar style, and more.

With the advent of smartphones, people are now increasingly using search engine on their mobile phones and Google is now targeting the masses with its Google Search for mobile, accessible via a web browser from an Android or iPhone device.

According to the company, users can access new toolbars and features on Mobile Gmail, Latitude, Calendar and Tasks on their Android-powered device or iPhone. On the Google apps, the company has provided new contrasting colors to demarcate the search results of the page. Further, Google has made the header controls are bigger to make them easier to touch.

The company has also relocated its own logo, which increases the size of the search box. You can also enter new big and bold font in the search box.

It is reported that the new look is also available for WebOS based devices too. It will provide similar synchronization like on desktop PC.

Earlier, the company has introduced its social networking initiative, called Google Buzz on its email service.
