Facebook Place aims at Google
By himanshusethi on Aug 20, 2010 | In Uncategorized, Uncategorized | Send feedback »

Facebook could be sitting on a gold mine of local business listings, which would be loved by the advertisers as well as users, but will not be appreciated by Google as Facebook Places catches the eye of company’s 500 million users.
Like Google has built its own database for local business listings tied to the Google Maps service. It means that someone is looking out for something and also provides the location; the users will have loads of search result to browse for, Facebook Places has some familiar idea with a social-media twist in it.
Facebook users can search an existing list of nearby locations and at the same time can add their own locations and share it with their friends through their mobile service too. This feature will help Facebook to grow strong in local business listing, and will place it near to the services like Google, Yelp, and others loads of companies looking out for local advertising business.
Can Facebook Places change the attitude of people and their way to search out for information, they need. Will internet users keep on typing the queries in the Google search or people will shift them to this new social networking new feature.
Already Facebook has forced companies to invest time and money in making the Facebook pages and merge both Pages as well as Places to avoid any confusion. Google already might have seen the intention of the Facebook. Google already has tried to enter in the social media activity from their end, but unfortunately failed at all time.
However, it is also true that Facebook will take a bit of time to create its own database and it is matter of time how much fame does Facebook places will be able to get, but in the meantime it is expected that Google too will take some precautionary measure in order to avoid any damage to them through the launch of Facebook Places.

By himanshusethi on Aug 17, 2010 | In Uncategorized, Uncategorized, Uncategorized, Uncategorized, Uncategorized | Send feedback »

Apple has already sold around 3.3 million iPad’s in Q2, which is more than the number of Mac Book laptops which was around 2.5 million for the same time span. On the other hand, the entire top five notebook vendors have saw their growth at a very slow ace.
The iPad has already sold enough units to alarm laptop makers. Nearly many of them have been working on rival tablets, which are powered by Google’s Android in most cases. But, there are some of the factors which should be kept in mind as these are considered to be the triggers for iPad’s popularity and should be coupled in the laptops too.
Here are some of them:
1. Battery Life: The battery life of the iPad was announced to be of 10 hours, which was an eye opener for the users. iPad exceeded all the exceptions too and easily crossed 10 hours of the battery life and went up to 11 – 12 hours. This type of battery life is useful for business professionals.
2. Instant On: iPad can be easily made to on position by simply clicking on the “power” button and Web page can be easily accessed from moving this gadget from sleep to awake position. Dragging the laptops to the conference rooms and other places too make this a hectic task, on the other hand this gadget can be taken to any place without any problem or issue.
3. Centralize the Software: This feature made the iPad infinitely more useful for lots of different tasks is its massive platform of third party applications. Contrastingly, the process used by the laptops is much more confusing and hectic as well.
4. Simple interfaces: As it is said that the simple pictures are considered to be the best it’s same as the user interface. If the user wants to get some good look the look should be simple and soothing to eyes. Software makers have been attempting to make the interface in simplified manner from the past some years.
5. Size Matters: To carry the iPad without the laptop bag is a huge advantage. This is another advantage which iPads have over the Laptops. This feature enables the professionals to carry in the conference room or somewhere else as compared with laptops which are too heavy to carry anywhere.
These are some of the features which should be kept in mind of the Laptop makers and which makes the iPad’s an advantage over the Laptop makers too.
